Anatoly Mikhalsky

Professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey. His first work on image recognition was published in 1964, when he first proposed using integral kernels for building adaptive nonlinear classifiers. Subsequently, they became one of the main elements of all modern machine learning methods.

Currently, he is developing special methods of combinatorial optimization for the problems of cluster analysis, and uses them to solve practical problems of signal and image analysis. Has published eight monographs and 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He received 11 patents for the use of the developed methods in bioinformatics, medical diagnostics, individual planning of cancer treatment, practical agricultural epidemiology, regional sociogeography, and financial risk forecasting systems. Since 1967, 12 Doctors of Science have defended their dissertations under his leadership.

Before joining Yandex, for 5 years he was a researcher at Google working on the Google Translate project, and led the group developing technologies for natural language generation.
 
Started programming on an old-fashioned Acorn Electron, switched to philology in his student years, then returned to computer science and computational linguistics as a postgraduate.  For five years he worked for Google Translate, applying randomized algorithms for language modelling. He also developed language processing methods for languages with dramatic differences in syntax and morphology. Later he switched to natural language processing for Google Search. 

David Talbot

Elena (Lena) Voita is a Ph.D. student at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Amsterdam, and a Facebook PhD Fellow in Natural Language Processing. 
Lena’s research focuses on neural machine translation, as well as analysis and interpretability of deep NLP models. Her works were published at top-tier NLP conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS. She is also a program committee member of the most renowned conferences in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (ACL, EMNLP, ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR) and an outstanding reviewer at EMNLP 2019.
Previously, Lena worked at Yandex for 4 years: first at the core of Yandex Search, then as a research scientist at Yandex Research side by side with the Yandex Translate team. In addition to her own research, she also supervised Bachelor and Master students (Yandex interns and students in the scope of Yandex Academic Supervision Program), which resulted in publications at ACL and NeurIPS.
